Located in Quillcayhuanca and Cojup valley, easy access on the west ridge, which is the normal route to climb up, offer a spectacular view from the summit, and also it is surrounded by huge snowcapped peaks as: Ranrapalca, Ishinca, Tocllaraju, Palcaraju, Pucaranra, Tullparaju, Andavite, San Juan mountains, and giant Huantsan peak.

• Maximum altitude: 5421 m. (Huapy summit).
• Difficulty: Moderate.
• Duration: 3 days / 2 nights.
• Preferred time: May – September.
• Location: Cordillera Blanca.
• Average temperature: Between 13° C – 23° C during the day/ at night -05°C to – 02°C.


DAY 1: Huaraz at (3100m) – Quillcayhuanca gate at (3850m) –Cuchillacocha lake camp at (4600m). (Trek time: 6 hours (ascend) / driving up time: 1 hours).
Departure from Huaraz at 7.00 am to the east side on dirt road until Quilcayhuanca gate, From this place we will start walking up along Quillcayhuanca valley, after 6 hours walking up we will reach the base camp at 4600m near to Cuchillacocha lake. Overnight camp at Cuchillacocha camp.

DAY 2: Cuchillacocha lake camp at (4600m) – Huapy summit at (5421m) –Cuchillacocha lake. (Climbing time: 12 hours (ascent & descent).
This day very early after our breakfast we will start climbing up on not very clear path about 3 hours climbing up we will reach the glacier edge, in that place we put on our climbing gear an necessary tools to start climbing up toward the summit, after 3 hours we will be at the top at 5421m, from the summit we will see several peaks around us such as: San Juan, Ranrapalca, Pucaranra and giant Huantsan peak, then we will descent on the same route up until our camp to sleep and rest. Last night camp at Cuchillacocha camp.

DAY 3: Cuchillacocha camp at (4600m) – Quillcayhuanca gate at (3850m) – huaraz. (Driving time: 1 hour / walk time: 6 hours (walk down).
After our breakfast we will pick up our climbing gear, after that we will walk down along Quillcayhuanca valley until gate valley, where our private transport is waiting us to back Huaraz. End our expedition.
